Federal Minister for Communication Abdul Aleem Khan has extended his greetings to the nation and the wider Muslim ummah on the arrival of the new Islamic year, calling Muharram a symbol of unwavering determination, independence, and mutual brotherhood.
In a statement issued on Friday, Abdul Aleem Khan said that the beginning of the lunar year is a time for reflection, renewal, and a deeper commitment to the principles of justice, unity and compassion.
“On this sacred occasion, I pray for the well-being of every Pakistani and the entire Muslim nation,” he said.
He highlighted the spiritual and historical significance of the month of Muharram, stating that it serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) family.
“The grandson of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and his noble companions nourished the religion with their blood in this month,” he remarked, referring to the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (A.S) at Karbala.
“The Hussaini ideology stands as an eternal symbol of standing up to tyranny and falsehood in pursuit of truth,” said Khan, adding that such values are central to the teachings of Islam and must be upheld in contemporary society.
He urged the public to learn from the example set by Imam Hussain (RA) and strive to uphold truth and justice in all spheres of life. “Only by following his example can a Muslim attain the pleasure of Allah,” he said.
Abdul Aleem Khan also stressed the need for unity, love and brotherhood among the people, particularly at a time when the region is witnessing challenges on multiple fronts. “This month teaches us mutual affection and responding to the call of truth,” he said.
Concluding his message, Aleem Khan expressed hope that the new Hijri year would bring an end to extremism and become a source of peace and prosperity for Pakistan and the Islamic world. “I pray for the safety of our beloved homeland and the continued uplift of the Muslim ummah,” he said.
