BTS star Suga has marked his return to public life with a generous act of philanthropy, donating ₩5 billion (approximately $3.6 million) to establish a treatment centre for children with autism.
The new facility, to be named the Min Yoon Gi Treatment Center after Suga's birth name, will be built at Yonsei Severance Hospital. It will offer specialised care for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder, providing language therapy, psychological support, and behavioural treatments. The centre will combine clinical care with research-driven methodologies to improve patient outcomes.
The announcement was made on June 23, just two days after Suga officially completed his mandatory military service on June 21, becoming the final BTS member to be discharged. His gesture has been widely celebrated by fans and the medical community alike.
Suga began planning the project in late 2024 after meeting with Professor Chun Geun Ah, head of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Their collaboration led to the development of the MIND programme—an initiative focused on Music, Interaction, Network, and Diversity—designed to enhance social skills and foster inclusion through music-based therapy.
Beyond treatment, the centre will work to challenge societal stigma surrounding neurodiversity and build long-term pathways for autistic children to thrive independently. Community engagement and awareness campaigns will also be key components of the centre’s mission.
The announcement has sparked excitement among fans, who are also eagerly anticipating BTS’s long-awaited full group reunion following the completion of all members’ military service.
