The number of donkeys increased by more than 109,000, according to a report, over one year in the country.
During the financial year 2023-24, the number of donkeys in the country rose to over 6,047,000. In the previous financial year, the donkey population was 5,938,000, according to the census authority.
The population of mules also increased by 3,000 in one year, the census authority reports. Mule numbers have risen to 227,000, according to the census authority.
The number of horses increased by 1,000 to reach 383,000, according to a report. The total livestock population increased by 2,171,000, according to the census authority.
The livestock population reached 59,711,000, according to a report.
Buffalo numbers increased by 1,378,000 over the year. The buffalo population rose to 47,688,000, according to the census authority.
Last year, the buffalo population was 46,310,000, according to the Federal Census Authority.
Sheep numbers increased by 388,000 in one year, reports said. The sheep population in the country surpassed 33,119,000, according to a report.
During the current financial year, the number of goats increased by 2,358,000, according to a report.
This year, the goat population has risen to over 89,300,000, according to the census authority. Last year, the total number of goats was 87,035,000, according to the census authority.
Camel numbers increased by 14,000 in one year, according to the Federal Census Authority. Camel population has surpassed 1,177,000, the Federal Census Authority reports.
Last year, the camel population was recorded at 1,163,000 by the Federal Census Authority.
