Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has directed authorities to ensure the timely repair and maintenance of motorways and highways across the country.
Chairing a high-level meeting of the National Highway Authority (NHA), the minister reviewed annual maintenance projects and issued key directives. He emphasized that timely repair work is essential for smooth travel and long-lasting roads.
Abdul Aleem Khan appreciated the performance of the new NHA team, noting visible improvements in operations. “Our goal is to make travel pleasant and hassle-free for the public,” he said.
He made it clear that NHA officials have no option but to improve their performance. The minister also ordered immediate commencement of construction on the densely populated section of Tarnol-Kohat Road and the upgradation of the Gujranwala Bypass.
Instructions were also given to install lighting and fencing on roads in Kamra Cantonment. He stressed that any defects on highways must be repaired without delay.
All maintenance projects must be approved by the competent forum, with a focus on transparency. The minister further directed that every project must reflect cost-efficiency, quality, and long-term benefit.
