The National Highway Authority (NHA) has announced the early opening of the Babusar Top highway this year, following instructions from Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan.
The highway, traditionally opened in July, was made accessible a month earlier, allowing tourists to travel to Babusar Top and beyond without any hindrance.
A spokesperson for the NHA said that the timely restoration of the Babusar Top route reflects the ministry’s commitment to providing improved facilities in the northern areas.
"Heavy glaciers and other obstacles were cleared well ahead of schedule, enabling the opening of the highway one and a half to two months earlier than usual," the spokesperson added.
The earlier reopening is expected to reduce travel time to Gilgit-Baltistan by approximately five hours, benefiting both tourists and locals. Additionally, the route will facilitate smoother access to the Kaghan Valley and Naran, further boosting tourism in these scenic regions.
The announcement comes after the successful restoration of the Kaghan-Naran Highway, reinforcing the government’s efforts to enhance connectivity in the northern areas.
The NHA urged travelers to take advantage of the improved route and assured continued maintenance and safety measures throughout the tourist season.
