A special guard of honour ceremony was held at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada (Martyrs’ Monument) at General Headquarters (GHQ) in honour of Field Marshal General Asim Munir, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
General Asim Munir paid tribute at the monument by laying a floral wreath and offering prayers in remembrance of the martyrs of Pakistan.
The ceremony marked his first official visit to the Yadgar-e-Shuhada since being conferred with the rank of Field Marshal.
In his remarks, Field Marshal Munir dedicated this prestigious honour to the people of Pakistan, particularly the martyrs and veterans of the armed forces.
He emphasised that the title is a tribute to the courageous soldiers who stood firm against Indian aggression and sacrificed their lives for the nation’s sovereignty.
