The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) summoned 16 members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) once again over their involvement in spreading negative propaganda.
Sources divulged that the JIT issued notices to these individuals, asking them to appear before the team on March 18, 2025.
Among those summoned were prominent PTI figures, including Syed Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Mohammad Khalid Khurshid Khan, Mian Mohammad Aslam Iqbal, and Hammad Azhar. Also among those who received summons were Aoun Abbas, Mohammad Shahbaz Shabbir, Waqas Akram, and Taimur Saleem Khan.
Additionally, notices were sent to Sibghatullah Virk, Azhar Mishwani, Mohammad Nouman Afzal, Jabran Elias, Salman Raza, Zulfi Bukhari, Musa Virk and Ali Malik.
The PTI chairman, Barrister Gohar, along with Raoof Hassan and Shah Farman, had already appeared before the JIT.
However, on March 14, 2025, the PTI founder's sister, Aleema Khan failed to appear despite receiving a summons. Subsequently, the JIT issued another summons for Aliya Khan, scheduling her appearance on 19th March 2025.
The JIT is investigating these individuals in light of evidence related to their involvement in state-opposing propaganda. Sources further indicated that the notices included a warning for the individuals to clarify their positions regarding this matter.
The JIT was established under the notification F.No.8/9/2024-FIA/ in accordance with Section 30 of the Electronic Crimes Prevention Act 2016. The investigation is being led by Islamabad's Inspector General of Police, Ali Nasir Rizvi.
