The Accountability Court has announced that the decision in the 190 million pound scandal case will be delivered on January 13, 2025. However, the decision could not be made during the last two hearings due to the absence of Judge Nasir Javed Rana.
In this case, charges have been levied against the founder of PTI and Bushra Bibi following investigations by the UK’s National Crime Agency. On November 15, 2024, the Islamabad High Court annulled the Accountability Court's decision and ordered the trial court to reconsider the case.
The case is being regarded not as the Al-Qadir Trust case but as a mega corruption case, with clear and undeniable evidence against the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi for illegally obtaining financial benefits.
According to the UK’s National Crime Agency, the 190 million pounds were deemed to be the property of Pakistan and were to be returned to the country. The government claims that this agreement was the result of a deal between property tycoon Malik Riaz and the PTI founder.
In the past, Special Advisor on Accountability Shehzad Akbar presented the cabinet with an agreement in a sealed envelope, which was objected to by some members but was secretly approved. Witnesses, including former Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, testified in court, revealing that under this agreement, the 190 million pounds were deposited into Pakistan’s Supreme Court account, and in return, the PTI founder was given land.
Evidence also suggests that Bushra Bibi played a significant role in aiding the PTI founder’s illegal activities, and both obtained land from Malik Riaz. These allegations have led to the involvement of both the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi in corruption.
