Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has announced the death of his elder brother, Shahid Akhtar, sharing the heartbreaking news with fans through a social media post.
Shoaib Akhtar, widely regarded as one of the fastest bowlers in cricket history, revealed that his beloved brother had passed away and returned to Allah Almighty.
Announcing the loss on his social media account, Shoaib Akhtar expressed deep sorrow over the passing of his elder brother.
In a post shared on social media, the former speedster wrote that he was saddened to share that his beloved elder brother, Shahid Akhtar, had passed away.

He prayed for Allah’s mercy and forgiveness for the deceased and requested fans and well-wishers to remember his brother in their prayers. Shoaib also stated that further details regarding the funeral would be shared soon.
Funeral prayers in Islamabad
According to family sources, the funeral prayers for Shahid Akhtar are scheduled to be offered after Asar prayers on Wednesday, June 24, at the H-8 Graveyard in Islamabad.
Family members, relatives, friends and people from different walks of life are expected to attend the funeral and pay their final respects.
Shahid Akhtar played a significant role in Shoaib Akhtar’s cricket journey and remained one of his strongest supporters throughout his career.
The two brothers shared a close bond, and Shahid stood by Shoaib during his rise to international cricket, supporting him until he became one of the most feared fast bowlers in the world.
The former fast bowler had earlier lost his mother in 2021. With the death of his elder brother, Shoaib has now endured a second major personal tragedy within the last few years, making this an especially painful period for the family.
