Hundreds of stalls were gutted in a fire at the Sunday bazaar established in Sector H-9 of the federal capital.
According to rescue sources, a sudden blaze broke out in the market and quickly engulfed multiple garments and footwear stalls. Fire brigade personnel reached the site and were engaged in efforts to bring the fire under control.
Stall owners were attempting to save their goods and shift them out of the affected area. Eyewitnesses reported panic in the market as the fire spread, with valuable merchandise of several shopkeepers reduced to ashes.
Initial reports said that hundreds of stalls have been affected, with a large number of garments and footwear stalls completely destroyed.
Authorities stated that the causes of the fire and the extent of losses would be assessed after the blaze is fully extinguished.
