Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Tuesday that Iran’s ballistic missile programme was never part of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Addressing a joint press conference, he stated that the missile programme would not be included in the MoU, nor in any such agreement with any party. He added that Iran would not compromise on its missile capabilities under any circumstances.

Missile strength averts destruction: Pezeshkian
Pezeshkian said that without Iran’s missile strength, the country would have faced destruction and external domination. He referred to the United States and Israel in this context, citing Gaza as an example.
The Iranian president praised Pakistan’s role in supporting US-Iran negotiations and in promoting regional stability, describing it as a responsible and forward-looking contribution during a sensitive period.

He said relations between Islamabad and Tehran had always been based on mutual respect, goodwill and long-standing trust, adding that recent developments had further strengthened these ties.
Pakistan ‘trusted partner’ in shared regional interests: Iran's president
Earlier, the Iranian president began his remarks alongside Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif by referencing a verse of Allama Iqbal, highlighting the close and historic relationship between the two countries. He termed Pakistan as a brotherly nation and a trusted partner in shared regional interests.
He also expressed gratitude to Pakistan, Egypt, Qatar, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia for their roles in supporting peace efforts and diplomatic engagement in the region.

The ceremony was attended by PM Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. The occasion is expected to further strengthen medical cooperation, academic exchange, and research links between Pakistan and Iran.
