Iran's ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam has thanked Pakistani officials for participating in the funeral ceremony of Iran's late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, describing the gesture as a reflection of the longstanding ties between the two neighbouring countries.
In a statement, Moghadam expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, as well as religious scholars, political leaders and cultural figures who attended the ceremony.

"I wish to convey my profound gratitude... for their valuable presence at this historic occasion and for expressing their solidarity with the Government and People of Iran," the ambassador said.
He said Pakistan's participation demonstrated the strength of the historic relationship and shared values between the two countries.
"This meaningful and historical gesture reflects the depth of the historic ties and shared values that have united Iran and Pakistan through the trials and triumphs of history," Moghadam said.
He added that Iran and Pakistan had consistently stood by one another during times of both hardship and celebration, describing the relationship as one built on solidarity, brotherhood and mutual support.
