The internet services have faced disruptions in various parts of Pakistan following a fault in the SMW-5 submarine cable, according to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
Cable fault disrupts internet services
The PTA said some users were experiencing interruptions to internet services because of the cable fault. The PTA said it was continuously monitoring internet traffic and the overall network situation.
According to the PTA, Transworld Associates and the SMW-5 Consortium are working to determine the cause of the fault.
The PTA said internet traffic had been diverted to alternative international links to reduce the impact of the disruption.
It added that it remained in contact with the relevant organisations to restore services as quickly as possible.
The authority said some users might continue to experience temporary reductions in internet speed and connectivity until normal services are fully restored.
