Pakistan’s security forces shot down four drones launched by the Afghan Taliban regime across the border in Balochistan, the military’s media wing said, calling the move a failed provocation against Pakistan’s sovereignty.
According to ISPR, the Afghan Taliban regime launched four rudimentary drones across the border into Balochistan on June 30.
The drones were allegedly sent under the patronage and support of terrorist outfits operating from territories controlled by the Afghan Taliban regime.
ISPR said the hostile aerial platforms were immediately detected by Pakistan’s robust air defence network.
Security forces, demonstrating high operational readiness, successfully neutralized all four incoming drones through sophisticated countermeasures, effectively thwarting what officials described as malicious attempts.
ISPR warns Afghan Taliban regime
The military said such “gimmicks” by the Afghan Taliban regime were aimed at misleading the Afghan population, which it said continues to suffer under an oppressive system.
ISPR urged the Afghan Taliban to stop patronizing terrorists and avoid irresponsible actions that add to the hardships of the Afghan people.
It said the Afghan Taliban regime should abandon the sponsorship of terrorism and adhere to the principle of peaceful coexistence instead of relying on hollow rhetoric and provocative actions.
Operation Ghazab Lil Haq response pledged
ISPR warned that every provocation would be met with an effective and befitting response under Operation Ghazab Lil Haq.
The statement said Pakistan would respond decisively to every attack on its sovereignty and that any action posing a threat to national security would be thwarted.
The Pakistan armed forces remain fully vigilant and capable of defending every inch of the motherland, ISPR said. It added that any misadventure or cross-border provocation threatening Pakistan’s sovereignty or endangering its people would continue to face swift, decisive and overwhelming responses.
Russia urges diplomacy
Meanwhile, Russia's Foreign Ministry urged Pakistan and Afghanistan on Tuesday to use diplomacy to resolve their longstanding differences.
A Foreign Ministry statement referred to the "tragic episode" of Pakistan airstrikes carried out on border areas. The United Nations said on Monday at least 28 people were killed. Pakistan's security forces and the Afghan Taliban gave higher figures.
"The Russian side urges Islamabad and Kabul to end the armed conflict and resolve disputed issues through political and diplomatic means," the statement on the ministry's website said.
