French President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday that his country and Oman are cooperating to help de-escalate tensions in the Middle East.
France, Oman agree Hormuz mine-clearing effort
France and Oman will also work with their partners to clear mines from the Strait of Hormuz, Reuters reported, quoting French President Emmanuel Macron.
Macron wrote on X after meeting Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said at the Élysée Palace: “We have decided to collaborate, together with our partners, on clearing mines from the Strait in order to secure maritime routes and guarantee free and unconditional passage through the Strait of Hormuz.”
Last week on Tuesday, the Iranian media reports said on Tuesday that Iran and Oman have confirmed their joint position on the Strait of Hormuz.
The two countries have agreed that decisions related to the strategic waterway must respect their sovereignty. Iran and Oman have agreed to continue consultations through a joint working group on matters concerning the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran, Oman to boost maritime route cooperation
The joint working group will review future administrative and practical measures for the waterway, Iranian media reported. The two countries will increase cooperation on the management of the strategic maritime route.
