Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has told the United States Central Command chief that Lebanon remains committed to extending state authority through its armed forces to the border with Israel.
The statement comes amid continued Israeli-Lebanese tensions, where Hezbollah maintains a strong presence in southern areas.

Aoun reaffirms plan to extend army control to southern frontier
According to a presidency statement, Aoun reiterated to Admiral Brad Cooper the determination of the Lebanese state to extend its control through the army to the southern frontier.
The two sides also discussed preparations linked to a framework arrangement between Lebanon, Israel and the United States.
