Free registration for pilgrims planning to perform Hajj next year has officially started, allowing citizens to register from home.
Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Yousaf says the move follows Prime Minister’s instructions to digitize the entire Hajj system.
Speaking at the launch ceremony in Islamabad, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Yousaf said that the Hajj registration process has now been made completely digital.
He said citizens can register from home without any cost, making the process more accessible and transparent.
Sardar Yousaf clarified that registration is compulsory for both government and private Hajj schemes.
He warned that anyone who does not register will not be eligible to apply for Hajj next year under any arrangement.
Key requirements for pilgrims
The minister said a passport is not required at the time of registration. However, it will be mandatory at the time of Hajj booking.
He added that the passport must remain valid until November 26, 2027, for eligibility purposes.
Sardar Yousaf also confirmed that overseas Pakistanis can register online as well.
He stated that applicants abroad must hold a valid Pakistani passport to complete the process.
Government aims for transparency and ease
The minister said the Ministry of Religious Affairs has fully digitized the Hajj system to improve efficiency and transparency.
He added that the initiative is aimed at simplifying the process for millions of intending pilgrims.
Sardar Yousaf said that full details regarding Hajj expenses will be shared at a later stage.
He did not announce the financial structure at the launch event.
