The measles outbreak in Sindh has raised serious concern among health experts, with 53 children losing their lives during the past six months and more than 2,000 others affected by the disease.
According to figures released by the Sindh Health Department, measles cases have continued to rise across the province, prompting warnings from medical professionals.
Health officials said the increase in infections is largely linked to low vaccination rates among children in Karachi and other parts of Sindh.
Paediatric specialist Dr Khalid Shafi said the growing number of cases was associated with a lack of routine immunisation.
Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Pechuho appealed to parents to ensure their children receive protective vaccinations to help prevent the spread of the disease.
Medical experts said measles is not only a challenge for Sindh but a nationwide public health issue. Despite being a preventable and treatable disease, it is spreading rapidly across Pakistan.
