Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi said on Tuesday that religious scholars were playing an important role in maintaining law and order across the country.
Naqvi said the forum should convey a message of unity throughout Pakistan and praised the role of the National Paigham-e-Aman Committee
The interior minister said the National Paigham-e-Aman Committee should be made active at the district level to strengthen efforts aimed at promoting harmony and stability.
He said religious scholars stood alongside the state in the fight against terrorism and stressed that all sections of society must remain united to eliminate the threat.
The interior minister said clerics were making an important contribution towards keeping the nation united and added that maintaining peace during Muharram-ul-Haram was a shared responsibility.
He said freedom of expression did not mean that individuals could make any statement without responsibility.
Referring to recent diplomatic efforts involving Iran, Naqvi said his role had been limited, while describing the Field Marshal's role as that of a captain in the process.
He said the Field Marshal played a central part in efforts that led to the end of hostilities between the United States and Iran and helped bring matters to a final conclusion.
Naqvi said Field Marshal Asim Munir enjoyed the confidence of the United States, Iran and other countries, and had spoken frankly to both sides during the process.
Commenting on the conflict with India, he said divine assistance had been received and credited Field Marshal Asim Munir for the victory.
