GB Chief Election Commissioner Raja Shahbaz Khan said on Thursday that the 2026 Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections concluded peacefully and work is under way to compile and finalise the results.
The chief election commissioner said in a statement that Form-49 has been issued for five constituencies, while work is continuing to finalise election results in the remaining constituencies. He said orders for re-polling have been issued in five constituencies.
The Gilgit-Baltistan Election Commission is hearing nine election-related petitions. Hearings have so far been held on three petitions, while the remaining petitions will be taken up on Friday. He said the process would be completed at the earliest opportunity.
The Chief Election Commissioner stated that, under Section 98 of the Election Act, the final notification of results must be issued within 14 days of polling day.
He said Form-49 has been completed for GBA-6 Hunza, GBA-11 Kharmang, GBA-23 Ghanche-II and GBA-23 Ghanche-III.
He added that time is being taken to collect and finalise results from remote areas, but the final notification will be issued within 14 days in accordance with the law.
