The first China-built Hangor-class submarine, PNS/M Hangor, has arrived in Karachi, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan's maritime defence capabilities.
The submarine stands as a new symbol of naval strength, defence self-reliance and modern military capability. The Hangor-class submarine is equipped with advanced Air Independent Propulsion technology, modern sonar systems, a stealth design and the ability to conduct prolonged underwater operations.
PNS/M Hangor reflects the strong strategic defence partnership between Pakistan and China. Hangor is not merely a name; it represents Pakistan's maritime power, national resolve and defence capability.
Last month, the commissioning ceremony of the Pakistan Navy's first Hangor-class submarine was held in China.
Addressing the ceremony, Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf said that disruption to critical sea routes posed a major threat to global trade and energy supplies. He said these submarines would play an important role in ensuring the security of key maritime trade corridors in the Arabian Sea.
