Leaders mark Youm-e-Takbeer as symbol of invincible defence
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and other national leaders issued special messages on Youm-e-Takbeer, calling May 28 a proud symbol of Pakistan’s invincible defence, national self-reliance and unity.
The leaders paid tribute to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Nawaz Sharif, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, Dr Samar Mubarak Mand, Pakistan’s scientists, engineers, armed forces and defence institutions for their role in making Pakistan a nuclear power.
President calls Youm-e-Takbeer a symbol of sovereignty
President Asif Ali Zardari said Youm-e-Takbeer is a symbol of Pakistan’s invincible defence. He said Pakistan launched its nuclear programme under the requirements of national security, and the successful nuclear tests at Chagai on May 28, 1998, made the country’s defence invincible.
The president said the nuclear tests granted Pakistan strategic autonomy and gave the country a strong position as the world’s seventh nuclear power.
Zardari said the nation pays tribute to its scientists and armed forces for their unforgettable services to the nuclear programme. He said Pakistan protected its national interests despite global pressure and sanctions.
He described Youm-e-Takbeer as a day of national unity, sovereignty and renewal of defence resolve. He further said Pakistan’s effective defence strategy is a guarantee of peace and stability in the region. He said Pakistan is a responsible and peace-loving nuclear state with no aggressive intentions against anyone.
However, he added that Pakistan reserves the right to defend itself under the United Nations Charter.
President warns against aggression
Referring to Indian aggression, President Zardari said it had been given a retaliatory response. He said the entire nation and the armed forces are united and ready to defend the homeland.
Any future aggression, he said, will be responded to promptly and fully. The president added that cyber warfare, artificial intelligence and drones will play an important role in modern wars, and Pakistan’s armed forces are fully skilled and prepared in every field.
He said success in the battle for justice is proof of national unity and the professional capacity of Pakistan’s armed forces. He reaffirmed that Pakistan’s journey towards self-reliance, innovation and professionalism will continue, and Pakistan’s flag will always remain high.
PM Sharif pays tribute to nuclear leadership
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Youm-e-Takbeer is a great day in Pakistan’s history. He said May 28, 1998, was the day Pakistan became a nuclear power and restored the balance of power in the region.
The prime minister described Youm-e-Takbeer as a symbol of national self-reliance, unity and an invincible determination to defend the homeland. He paid tribute to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Nawaz Sharif, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan and Dr Samar Mubarak Mand.
He said the services of scientists, engineers, Pakistan’s armed forces and all those involved in the nuclear programme are unforgettable.
No compromise on sovereignty
Prime Minister Shehbaz said Pakistan did not compromise on national sovereignty despite global pressure, sanctions and financial offers. He said that if Pakistan had not become a nuclear power, the enemy could have gone to any extent.
The prime minister said Pakistan has no aggressive intentions but reserves the right to defend itself.
Shehbaz said the enemy’s aggression was given a befitting response in Marka-e-Haq. He said India staged the Pahalgam false flag operation and attacked Pakistan.
According to the prime minister, Pakistan’s armed forces and the nation thwarted the enemy’s intentions through unity and resolve. He said that after Operation Bunyanun Marsoos, Pakistan will end seditions through Operation Ghazab Lil Haq.
“The enemy should not be under any misunderstanding,” he said, adding that Pakistan’s armed forces are ready for every challenge.
Maryam Nawaz congratulates Pakistan and Muslim world
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz issued a special message from Lahore on the historic occasion of Youm-e-Takbeer. She congratulated every Pakistani and the entire Muslim Ummah on the day.
Maryam saluted every member of the team that carried out the nuclear mission for the defence of the homeland. She also paid tribute to Nawaz Sharif, saying he made Pakistan the first nuclear power in the Islamic world.
The CM said Youm-e-Takbeer is a day of pride not only for Pakistan but also for the entire Muslim world. She said Pakistan’s nuclear programme is a symbol of the country’s strong defence.
“May 10 or May 28, the Pakistani nation still recognizes the courageous decisions of the PML-N leadership,” she said. The chief minister said Pakistan was made a nuclear power for strong defence, and now the mission is to make it economically invincible.
She urged the nation to renew its commitment to unity, solidarity, hard work, patience and tolerance.
Abdul Aleem Khan lauds political and defence leadership
President of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party and Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan congratulated the nation on Youm-e-Takbeer. He paid rich tribute to Pakistan’s military and defence institutions, scientists and political leadership for making the country a nuclear power.
He said the slogan “Youm-e-Takbeer, defence of the invincible homeland” is a guarantor of national security. Aleem Khan said Pakistan created its unique identity as the first Muslim nuclear power.
He paid tribute to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for launching the nuclear programme and said Nawaz Sharif took the bold decision to conduct nuclear tests despite pressure. He said Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan and Dr Samar Mubarak Mand are undoubtedly heroes of the nation.
He added that the Pakistan Army, military institutions and defence experts deserve special congratulations.
Pakistan ready to counter aggression
Aleem Khan said Pakistan, as a nuclear power, has become a full-fledged response to India and is ready against aggression. He said that despite being a nuclear power, Pakistan’s role for peace in the region is commendable.
He also praised Pakistan’s diplomacy in the Iran-US war, calling it unique and excellent. He said the world highly appreciated Pakistan as a sovereign state after its nuclear explosions.
Senate chairman, speaker remember May 28
Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani congratulated the nation and said Pakistan proved its sovereignty and defence capability to the world by carrying out nuclear tests. He said Zulfikar Ali Bhutto laid the foundation of Pakistan’s nuclear programme.
He added that Benazir Bhutto started the missile programme. According to Gilani, the nuclear tests established strategic balance in South Asia.
National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq said the entire nation pays tribute to Nawaz Sharif for taking the historic decision. He said Pakistan’s armed forces played an unparalleled role in protecting the country’s nuclear assets.
Ministers, politicians highlight national unity
Federal Minister Owais Leghari said the mountains of Chagai still testify to the unity of the nation and the courage of self-reliant leadership. He said the armed forces and national leadership made Pakistan a strong and secure state.
