Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has hoped for early peace agreement in called with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
According to details released on Wednesday, PM Shehbaz and the Iranian president held a telephone conversation in which the two leaders exchanged Eid-ul-Azha greetings and discussed the regional situation. The conversation lasted nearly 30 minutes, during which both leaders conveyed good wishes for the people of their respective countries and the wider Islamic world.
The prime minister expressed sorrow over the loss of Iranian lives during the present crisis and reaffirmed solidarity with the Iranian leadership and people. Shehbaz Sharif said Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir had made tireless efforts for peace in the region and expressed hope that a peace agreement would soon be reached in accordance with the dignity of the Iranian nation.
He said Pakistan, as a brotherly and neighbouring country, would always stand by Iran and that both countries faced a brighter future once peace was restored.
The Iranian president praised Pakistan’s role in efforts for peace in the region and thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif separately contacted the Kuwait crown prince of and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. He conveyed Eid greetings and expressed good wishes.
During his conversation with the Kuwaiti crown prince, the prime minister agreed on further strengthening fraternal ties. Shehbaz Sharif also appreciated Kuwait’s support for Pakistan’s efforts for peace in the region.
In talks with PM Shehbaz, the Malaysian prime minister praised Pakistan’s effective role for peace. The prime minister thanked his Malaysian counterpart for supporting Pakistan’s peace initiatives. Both leaders also expressed concern over Israeli actions in Lebanon and the worsening situation in Gaza.
