The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast intensely hot and dry weather for the second day of Eid-ul-Azha as the heatwave continued across large parts of the country.
According to details surfaced on Wednesday, the PMD said Turbat and Bahawalnagar recorded 48 degrees Celsius during the past 24 hours, while temperatures in Sibi, Dadu, Larkana and Mohenjo-daro reached 47 degrees Celsius.
The PMD stated that strong winds and rain were likely at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, north-east Punjab and the Pothohar region during the next 24 hours.
A heatwave warning has also been issued for Sindh, south Punjab, Balochistan and several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Citizens have been advised to take precautionary measures as temperatures in several cities may remain up to six degrees above normal.
Meanwhile, the heatwave intensified across Punjab, including Lahore. The PMD said the temperature in Lahore was recorded at 45 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, while severe hot winds and humid conditions persisted during the afternoon.
The PMD added that no rain was expected in Lahore tonight.
