Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement with Iran intensified as Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi travelled to Tehran for another round of key meetings.
The visit comes amid ongoing regional tensions and efforts to revive Iran-US talks. Naqvi met both Iran’s political and military leadership during the trip.
Mohsin Naqvi met Masoud Pezeshkian and Ahmad Vahidi in Tehran during discussions focused on regional security and ongoing diplomatic efforts.
He also held talks with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni as Pakistan continued its engagement with Tehran over the evolving Middle East situation.
According to official reports and diplomatic sources, the meetings included discussions on Iran-US negotiations, ceasefire efforts, and ways to reduce tensions in the region.
Pakistan pushing diplomatic efforts
The visit marks Naqvi’s second trip to Iran in less than a week, reflecting Islamabad’s increasing involvement in mediation efforts between Washington and Tehran.
Sources familiar with the matter said Pakistan is trying to help both sides return to direct negotiations and avoid further escalation.
Officials added that recent developments, including US President Donald Trump’s decision to delay planned strikes on Iran, have slightly improved prospects for renewed talks.
Talks centered on regional stability
During the meetings, discussions reportedly focused on fresh proposals exchanged between Iran and the United States.
The latest proposals are said to include issues related to sanctions, frozen Iranian assets, and broader ceasefire arrangements, although major disagreements remain over Tehran’s nuclear programme.
Pakistan is continuing diplomatic outreach to regional stakeholders in an effort to support a long-term resolution to the conflict.
Iranian officials have recently praised Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement and its role in supporting ceasefire stabilization efforts.
During Naqvi’s previous visit, President Pezeshkian acknowledged Pakistan’s cooperation and efforts to prevent further regional instability.
The latest meetings further underline close communication between Islamabad and Tehran during a sensitive phase in the region.
