Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi held an important meeting with Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran, during which bilateral relations and the regional situation came under discussion.
According to details released on Sunday, the Pakistani Embassy in Tehran issued a statement regarding Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s visit to Iran. The statement said Naqvi met Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian in the presence of Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
A separate one-on-one meeting also took place between Mohsin Naqvi and President Pezeshkian, which continued for nearly 90 minutes. Matters relating to the regional situation and Pakistan-Iran ties were discussed during the meeting.
The statement added that highly important talks were held with the Iranian leadership regarding bilateral relations and regional mediation efforts. Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni praised the efforts of Field Marshal Asim Munir towards resolving the Iran-United States dispute.
According to the Pakistani Embassy in Tehran, Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni received Mohsin Naqvi at the airport. The two interior ministers also held an important meeting in which prospects for the restoration of peace talks, lasting regional peace and the latest regional developments came under detailed discussion.
Eskandar Momeni said Iran had always supported peace and sincerely appreciated the efforts of the Government of Pakistan and Army Chief General Asim Munir for resolving the conflict. Both ministers reaffirmed their resolve to further strengthen the historic and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Iran.
The two sides also stressed the importance of continued mutual cooperation for peace, security and prosperity in the region.
