Regional tensions surged after a sharp warning from US President Donald Trump over Iran’s potential actions in the Strait of Hormuz.
The statement came as the United Arab Emirates reported intercepting multiple missiles and drones allegedly launched from Iran.
Trump said Iran would be “blown off the face of the Earth” if it attacked US vessels involved in “Project Freedom” operations in the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking to Fox News, he claimed Iran had become “much more malleable” in ongoing peace discussions but stressed that the US remains prepared for escalation.
“We have more weapons and ammunition at a much higher grade than we had before,” Trump said, highlighting America’s global military presence and readiness.
UAE reports missile
The UAE confirmed a major escalation after its air defence systems intercepted incoming threats across the country.
According to officials, ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones were detected and engaged mid-air, triggering emergency alerts and widespread defensive activity.
Residents reported hearing loud sounds across multiple areas, which authorities later linked to interception operations.
Separately, a drone strike caused a fire at an oil facility in Fujairah, raising concerns over energy infrastructure security in the region.
Authorities did not immediately confirm the extent of the damage but described the incident as part of the broader escalation.
