The United Arab Emirates has reported a serious escalation in regional tensions after intercepting multiple missiles and drones allegedly launched from Iran.
The situation triggered nationwide air defence activity and emergency alerts.
Separately, a drone strike also caused a fire at an oil facility in Fujairah.
The UAE’s Defence Ministry confirmed that its air defence systems were actively responding to incoming missile and drone attacks.
In an official statement posted on X, the ministry said the systems intercepted ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones targeting various parts of the country.
Officials added that sounds heard across multiple areas were linked to ongoing interception operations.
Four missiles launched from Iran
According to the UAE Defence Ministry, four missiles were launched from Iran towards the UAE.
Three of the missiles were successfully intercepted by air defence systems, while one fell into the sea, the ministry stated.
Authorities did not immediately report casualties or further damage from the missile activity.
Emergency missile alerts issued
The UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority issued a fresh missile alert as the situation developed.
Officials confirmed that air defence systems were actively responding to a missile threat across the country.
This came just two hours after an earlier alert, marking one of the first such warnings since the US-Iran ceasefire came into effect.
In a separate incident, Fujairah’s Media Office reported a large fire at a petroleum industrial site in the emirate.
The fire reportedly broke out after a drone attack linked to Iran.
Emergency teams were deployed to control the blaze, while authorities continue to assess the situation.
