The White House has included Nick Stewart in its Iran peace negotiations team, officials said.
His appointment followed a recommendation by Jared Kushner. Stewart previously served in the State Department and held various positions during President Donald Trump’s first term in office.
He has also been associated with the lobbying wing of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, an organisation known for supporting a tougher military policy against Tehran.
Officials said that Stewart possesses considerable experience in matters relating to Iran.
