United States President Donald Trump has said he is not satisfied with the latest proposals from Iran.
Speaking to the media in Washington, he said the Iranian leadership should present suitable proposals if it wishes to reach an agreement, adding that Iran is seeking a deal and that he holds Pakistan in high regard.
He said he has great respect for Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and confirmed that discussions with Iran are ongoing. He added that Iran neither has an effective air force nor a navy, stating that much of its capability has been destroyed.
The US president stated that there is no unity within the Iranian leadership, describing them as confused and divided. He said he is not certain a deal can be reached and added that he does not want Iran to possess nuclear weapons.
Donald Trump also said that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed and that talks with Iran are continuing, though matters are not progressing.
He said that the Iranian leadership lacks a unified position, with different voices speaking separately, and said the situation now depends on Iran choosing between a lasting end or a deal.
