Iran has sent a new proposal to the United States through Pakistan, signaling renewed diplomatic efforts amid ongoing regional tensions.
The move comes as talks between Tehran and Washington remain stalled despite a fragile ceasefire.
A diplomatic source confirmed that Iran submitted a new proposal to Pakistani mediators on Thursday.
Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency reported that the proposal text was formally handed over to Pakistan, which is acting as a mediator in talks with the United States. However, details of the proposal have not been made public.
Pakistan’s role in mediation
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqai in a statement today said Pakistan holds an official role in facilitating dialogue between Tehran and Washington.
He added that while several countries are willing to assist, Pakistan has been given formal mediator status in the process.

Iran and the United States have held just one round of talks following a nearly 40-day conflict that began on February 28.

Negotiations have since stalled, with both sides maintaining pressure tactics, including military and economic measures.
Strait of Hormuz at center of tensions
The US has imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports, while Iran has largely restricted access through the Strait of Hormuz, allowing only limited ship movement.
Iranian officials have stressed that safe passage through the strategic waterway remains a key global concern.
Regional diplomacy intensifies
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has held phone calls with counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Iraq, and Azerbaijan to discuss efforts to end the war.
He previously visited Pakistan and Oman, describing Pakistan’s mediation role as “very important” and consultations as successful.
Speaking in Russia, Araghchi said Iran has reassessed its negotiation approach and conditions for future talks.
He criticized what he called “unnecessary demands” from the United States, saying they had slowed progress in earlier discussions.
Trump warns Iran amid delayed talks
US President Donald Trump warned that Iran must “get smart soon” regarding negotiations, signaling frustration over delays.
The White House has indicated it is reviewing Iran’s proposal but insists that any agreement must prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
Analysts say both sides are currently engaged in strategic signaling rather than direct conflict, trying to demonstrate resilience and leverage.
The fragile ceasefire remains in place, but uncertainty continues to shape the diplomatic landscape.
