Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has responded to United States President Donald Trump over his statement regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post on the social media platform X, Abbas Araghchi shared an old video of Donald Trump in which he mistakenly referred to the Strait of Hormuz as the “Strait of Trump”, before acknowledging it as a serious error.
He said the United States president ought to use the correct term, the Persian Gulf, rather than expressions coined by the Pentagon, adding that referring to Hormuz by any other name constitutes a grave mistake.
Abbas Araghchi stated that such remarks run contrary to established facts and risk increasing unnecessary tension and dispute in the region.
It is noted that the United States President recently shared a new map of the Strait of Hormuz on his social media platform Truth Social, in which it was labelled as the “Strait of Trump”.
