Iran has claimed that Pakistan is playing a mediating role in discussions with the United States.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baqai said that Pakistan is serving as an official mediator in talks between Iran and the United States.
He added that while several countries are willing to assist, Pakistan currently holds a formal role in facilitating communication between the two sides.
According to Esmail Baqai, if a decision is made to proceed with formal talks, it will be officially announced.
He also noted that Iran remains in contact with various countries and continues to present its position through diplomatic channels.
Iran–Russia strategic partnership
The spokesperson also highlighted the strategic partnership agreement between Iran and Russia.
He said the two countries are expanding cooperation across political, security, and economic areas under the existing agreement.
Iran’s position on US actions
Baqai strongly rejected recent US actions, describing them as “aggression” rather than self-defense.
He challenged the US justification, arguing that the actions do not fall under defensive measures.
In his statement shared on social media, Baqai referred to a US State Department document.
The document stated that US actions were taken in collective defense of its ally Israel and under the right to self-defense, a position Iran has disputed.
