The district administration, under austerity measures, has announced revised business hours in Islamabad.
According to a notification, shops, markets and shopping malls will close at 8pm throughout the week. The administration said restaurants, tandoors, grocery stores and other food outlets will close at 10pm; however, takeaway and delivery services will be permitted at these premises.
The notification made clear that pharmacies, hospitals, petrol pumps, CNG stations and dairy shops will be exempt from these restrictions.
Similarly, marriage halls, marquees and other event venues have been directed to close by 10pm, while the same timings have been set for sports facilities, clubs and gyms.
The district administration said the measures are aimed at conserving energy and ensuring efficient use of resources.
