Security in the federal capital has been placed on high alert ahead of the scheduled arrival of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi later tonight.
According to details that emerged on Friday, security has once again been heightened in view of the Iranian foreign minister’s visit. Extraordinary security arrangements have remained in place in Islamabad for several days in connection with efforts related to the second round of US-Iran peace negotiations.
Limited easing in movement had been observed over the past two days in various areas. However, with the announcement of the Iranian foreign minister’s visit, security has again been raised to red alert.
Police and other security personnel have been increased on major arteries, including Islamabad Expressway. The Red Zone had already remained sealed, while the extended Red Zone has now also been sealed again.
