Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir had taken a firm and clear position on possible Indian provocations even before last year’s Pahalgam false flag operation, warning that Pakistan’s defence was invincible and any misadventure would receive a befitting response.
In his historic address to an Overseas Pakistanis’ function in Islamabad on April 16, 2025, the Field Marshal said the Indian army could not defeat Pakistan despite all its resources.
He reiterated the country’s resolve to defeat the enemy’s nefarious designs and made it clear that Pakistan was fully capable of defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Field Marshal said the Indian army could not defeat Pakistan, even with all the resources at its disposal.
Kashmir described as Pakistan’s jugular vein
During the address, Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s position on Kashmir.
“Kashmir was and is our jugular vein,” he said, underlining the centrality of the dispute to Pakistan’s national security and regional peace. He said the people of occupied Kashmir were fighting against the usurping Indian army and continued to resist Indian occupation.
Experts say the Field Marshal’s historic words represent a complete defence doctrine, combining military preparedness, national resolve and Pakistan’s principled stance on Kashmir.
An emergency meeting of Pakistan’s National Security Committee was held on April 24, 2025, following the Pahalgam false flag operation. The participants reviewed the overall regional situation in detail and considered Indian actions unfair, unilateral and without legal justification.
The committee reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled and consistent support for the right of the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir to self-determination.
Pakistan rejects Indian allegations
The National Security Committee said India should accept full responsibility for its failure to provide security to its people. Participants rejected attempts to link the Pahalgam incident to Pakistan without investigation or verifiable evidence.
The committee described such allegations as baseless, illogical and contrary to facts. It also said India’s stereotypical narrative of portraying itself as a victim was no longer acceptable.
The committee said that, contrary to India’s false claims, there was undeniable evidence of terrorism inside Pakistan under Indian auspices. Participants said India should refrain from quick blame-making and the systematic use of incidents such as Pahalgam for political purposes.
The committee also condemned what it called irresponsible media campaigns run under the patronage of the Indian government, saying such actions were fueling tensions in the region.
Kashmir unrest linked to Indian brutality
Pakistan’s National Security Committee said the public reaction in occupied Jammu and Kashmir was the result of Indian brutality and human rights violations. The committee maintained that the Kashmir dispute remained central to instability in the region.
It reiterated that Pakistan would continue to support the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination in accordance with its principled position.
The National Security Committee strongly rejected India’s water aggression. It said water was a vital national interest of Pakistan and that its availability would be ensured at all costs.
The committee warned that any attempt to stop or divert the flow of water from Pakistan’s share would be considered a declaration of war. It said such an act would receive a full response through national power, within the scope of Pakistan’s mandate.
Full response promised to any threat
The National Security Committee said any threat to Pakistan’s sovereignty and public security would be met with a full and effective response on all fronts. It said Pakistan and its armed forces were fully prepared and fully capable of countering any kind of adventure.
The committee stressed that the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity would be defended at all costs.
The National Security Committee said India’s provocative actions had once again proved the validity of the two-nation theory. Participants said these actions also validated the concerns expressed by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in the 1940 Pakistan Resolution.
The committee said the Pakistani nation was determined to pursue peace, but would not tolerate intimidation against its sovereignty, security, dignity or fundamental rights.
Pakistan’s stance proven in practice
Experts say the statements made by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and the National Security Committee reflect Pakistan’s complete national security doctrine.
They said history has shown that declarations made by Pakistan’s National Security Committee have been proven true in the practical field.
According to them, the enemy has faced a crushing defeat on every front whenever it attempted to challenge Pakistan’s sovereignty and security.
