Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed hope that Iran and the United States will soon return to the negotiating table.
The remarks came during a high-level consultative meeting reviewing Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts on the Middle East situation.
According to sources, an important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Shehbaz Sharif to assess ongoing diplomatic developments.
Senior officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Ata Tarar, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, and Foreign Secretary Amina Baloch, attended the session.
Focus on Islamabad talks
The meeting reviewed efforts to organise the second phase of the Islamabad talks.
Sources said the foreign minister briefed the prime minister on his recent contacts with foreign ministers from various countries, aimed at facilitating dialogue.

During the discussion, the prime minister expressed optimism that Iran and the United States would soon resume negotiations.
He reiterated that Pakistan would continue its diplomatic role to help promote lasting peace in the Middle East.
Meeting with Chinese ambassador
Earlier, Shehbaz Sharif also met Jiang Zaidong to discuss Pakistan’s peace efforts regarding the regional crisis.
The meeting was attended by Ishaq Dar, Ahsan Iqbal, Ata Tarar, Tariq Fatemi, and Amina Baloch.
During the meeting, the prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong ties with China.
He said Pakistan takes pride in its strategic partnership with China and conveyed his good wishes to the Chinese leadership.
