China has called for an immediate ceasefire in a telephonic conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
According to details surfaced on Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have held a telephone conversation, according to state media and foreign news agencies.
President Xi Jinping has emphasised the importance of maintaining normal maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. He said China supports an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire and favours the resolution of Middle East disputes through political and diplomatic means.
He said that China attaches great importance to its growing relations with Saudi Arabia and upholds the principles of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit, as the two countries mark the tenth anniversary of their comprehensive strategic partnership.
In a separate development, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei has said that the Iranian delegation will not travel to Pakistan for the second round of talks.
Speaking to the media, Esmaeil Baqaie said Iran has no intention of participating in the second phase of negotiations. He added that the United States had violated the ceasefire and that Pakistan’s mediator had been informed of the breach.
