The Power Division has reported an improvement in the country’s electricity situation, adding that a significant increase of 2,300 megawatts in hydropower generation has been recorded due to enhanced water discharge from dams.
This improvement has reduced the duration of load management from six hours to between two-and-a-half and three hours. According to a spokesperson for the Power Division, water discharge from dams was increased last night from 8,000 cusecs to 30,000 cusecs. As a result, hydropower generation rose from 1,800 megawatts to 4,100 megawatts.
The spokesperson said the duration of load management last night remained between two-and-a-half and three hours, down from six hours.
The Power Division stated that the issue of load management will be resolved with the early availability of LNG and a continued rise in hydropower generation.
