Ongoing violations of anti-doping rules have cast doubt over India’s ambitions to host major international sporting events, including the Olympic Games.
According to reports, India has ranked among the countries with the highest number of doping violations for the past three consecutive years. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has acknowledged that doping remains a significant concern in the country.
The report further states that India records one of the highest rates of positive tests for banned performance-enhancing substances, raising serious concerns over the integrity of its sports environment.
These findings have raised questions over India’s aspirations to host events such as the Commonwealth Games and the 2036 Olympic Games.
WADA has described doping in India as a major challenge and has called for stronger action against the production and distribution networks of prohibited substances. Experts warn that the issue could pose a serious threat to the country’s international sporting ambitions.
According to foreign media reports, WADA officials are currently in New Delhi, where they are engaging with national law enforcement agencies, particularly cybercrime units, to strengthen cooperation and ensure greater transparency in sports.
