The United States has withdrawn the temporary waiver granted to India for purchasing discounted Russian oil, according to international media reports.
US Treasury officials stated that the deadline for deals made before March 11 has now expired, effectively ending the concession. During the waiver period, Indian refineries had placed orders for approximately 30 million barrels of Russian oil.
The US had earlier allowed India a one-month temporary exemption to continue limited purchases from Russia. However, officials made it clear that no new deals would be permitted under this arrangement.
Authorities further clarified that India would only be allowed to receive shipments that were already in transit, and any fresh agreements for Russian oil imports would not be authorized.
