Cross-border shelling from Afghanistan has left civilians martyred in Pakistan’s tribal region.
The incident, which followed a failed infiltration attempt, triggered a swift response from the Pakistan Army.
According to security sources, at least three people, including two children, were martyred in shelling targeting civilian areas in Bajaur.
Three others were reported seriously injured in the incident, raising concerns among local residents.
The shelling was said to have originated from across the border in Afghanistan.
Pakistan Army responds to cross-border fire
Following the attack, the Pakistan Army launched a retaliatory operation.
Security sources said the gun position responsible for the firing was completely destroyed.
They added that multiple positions near the Bajaur border were also targeted during the response.
Officials stated that the shelling came after an alleged infiltration attempt was thwarted in the region.
The attempt was attributed to elements described by authorities as Fitna-ul-Khawarij, with claims that efforts had been ongoing in recent days.
