The Chief Election Commissioner of Gilgit-Baltistan has announced the election schedule for the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, confirming that polling will be held on June 7, 2026 across all 24 constituencies simultaneously.
According to the schedule, nomination papers will be submitted from April 16 to April 20. The preliminary list of candidates will be issued on April 21, while scrutiny of nomination papers will be completed by April 28.
Decisions on appeals will be finalized by May 9, and candidates will be able to withdraw their nominations until May 11. The final list of candidates and election symbols will be issued on May 12.
Chief Election Commissioner Raja Shahbaz Khan said that all arrangements have been completed to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections in Gilgit-Baltistan. He added that peaceful polling will be ensured with the cooperation of all relevant institutions.
He further stated that local government elections will be held on June 14, and their schedule will be announced soon. The Election Commission has also appointed district returning officers in all 10 districts and returning officers for all 24 constituencies.
