Several police officers were injured after Afghan nationals allegedly attacked them during a search operation in Islamabad.
According to police, the incident occurred in the Sarai Kharboza area, where a search operation was underway against Afghan residents. Authorities reported that 23 individuals were arrested for resisting the operation and assaulting police personnel.
A case has been registered at Golra Police Station on the complaint of an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), including charges under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act along with other provisions.
The First Information Report (FIR) states that a police team had gone to Kashmir Colony to conduct the operation, where five Afghan nationals failed to present valid residency documents. While police were transporting them to the station, a group of 50 to 60 individuals allegedly attacked the officers.
According to the report, a man identified as Mubeen, along with his accomplices, allegedly abducted a police officer. The suspects reportedly confined the abducted officer in a house and set it on fire, while also snatching a government-issued submachine gun (SMG) from the police.
Additional police personnel later reached the scene and rescued the officers. The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has launched a search operation to apprehend the suspects who managed to escape.
