Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan in the context of rising tensions in the Middle East.
According to a Foreign Office spokesperson, the two leaders reviewed the latest regional developments and stressed the urgent need for de-escalation to ensure peace and stability. Both sides agreed to remain in close contact in view of the evolving situation.
Separately, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a telephone call with his Russian counterpart. The two exchanged views on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and the wider Middle East.
The Chinese foreign minister said the restoration of stability in the Strait of Hormuz could only be achieved through an early ceasefire. He added that China had consistently emphasised reconciliation to resolve global disputes and had always supported dialogue and negotiations as the means to address issues.
