In a development for the national economy, the state-owned Oil and Gas Development Company Ltd (OGDCL) has begun oil production from the Pasakhi-13 well in Hyderabad.
According to details surfaced on Tuesday, the well is producing 460 barrels of oil per day. An OGDCL spokesman said that drilling at the Pasakhi-13 well was completed to a depth of 2,966 metres. A 546-metre side-track was carried out using modern technology.
The new drilling technique has resulted in nearly three times higher production. The project is expected to increase oil output and improve the energy sector.
Pasakhi-13 is the country’s first successful horizontal oil well, the OGDCL spokesman added.
