The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) has returned, with objections, a petition seeking the transfer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan to hospital.
Chief Justice Yahya Afridi informed the PTI counsel that no such application now remains pending before the court on which proceedings could be undertaken.
The petition for Imran Khan’s transfer to hospital had been filed by Sardar Latif Khosa. The registrar’s objections state that the Supreme Court has already made it clear in its order that the PTI founder’s appeals are pending before the High Court, and that he may seek appropriate relief from that forum if required.
The petition was not filed through an Advocate-on-Record. Counsel for the PTI founder, Sardar Latif Khosa and Naeem Panjutha, also appeared before the chief justice’s court. Khosa requested that the matter be fixed for early hearing.
The CJP has observed that the petition had been returned with objections and that no such application is pending before the court for action. He further observed that the court had not issued any order for medical treatment; rather, an assurance had been furnished by the government, and a medical check-up had already been conducted on humanitarian grounds.
