Opposition leader Mahmood Achakzai has urged that conflicts between neighboring countries are dangerous and stressed the importance of dialogue between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Speaking to the media outside Parliament House in Islamabad, he said the situation has not yet reached a point where talks are impossible, and efforts should be made to resolve issues through discussion.
He emphasized that both Pakistan and Afghanistan have people capable of reducing tensions and that escalation between two Muslim countries is inappropriate. “Both countries’ enemies are pleased with rising tensions,” Achakzai said, urging caution and urging leaders to seek solutions responsibly.
Achakzai noted that even during major wars, negotiations take place. “I am an advocate of peace and will play my role if asked,” he said, adding that he would encourage both sides to avoid conflict and pursue peace.
Commenting on regional issues, he mentioned that Iran is facing difficulties and that resolving its problems is beyond the current government’s capacity. In response to a question about Rana Sanaullah welcoming his offer, Achakzai responded positively.
