Former Pakistan national team captain Shahid Khan Afridi said the coach and captain do not want Pakistan to move forward, adding that when decisions are not right, no hope remains.
Speaking on Samaa TV programme Zor Ka Jor, Afridi said Sri Lanka made a good start but failed to secure victory. He said that teams face difficult periods and that the key question is who recovers from them.
He said prayers are not being answered and recalled that Mohsin Naqvi had spoken of surgery, yet no surgery took place. “Difficult decisions will have to be taken,” he said.
Former Pakistan Test cricketer Tauseef Ahmed said the side has always depended on others. He held the selectors responsible, saying they were unaware of the conditions. “All the spinners were sent, not a single batsman. Everything went wrong,” he said. Referring to the previous match, he noted that the ball was gripping on the pitch and a target of around 140 would have proved difficult for the opposition. He said New Zealand showed that strong cricket can be played and praised the New Zealand captain for a fine innings.
