The National Assembly Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis was informed that Spain’s new immigration policy will remain in force from April to June.
The committee, which met under the chairmanship of Agha Rafiullah, discussed issues faced by Pakistanis residing in Italy and Spain. The chairman expressed displeasure that the post of Community Welfare Attaché in Spain has remained vacant for six years.
Officials stated that around 140,000 Pakistanis are living in Spain. The chairman directed that contact numbers of Community Welfare Attachés be placed on the official website.
The meeting was told that 150 bodies of Pakistanis were brought back from Milan, Italy, without any expenditure from the national exchequer. A Nadra desk has been made operational in Milan.
Officials further informed the committee that 353 Pakistanis, including three women, are currently imprisoned in Italy. The Pakistani embassy is extending assistance to its citizens.
